Argh, came home today and noticed a 1cm long deep scratch on the bonnet. It's as if a cat jumped up there and slipped a bit. The scratch is so deep, You can see the black underneath the silver paint (and feel the groove).
There's also a less deep scratch a small distance away from it. :(
So, anyone hazard a guess as to how much it will cost to fix?

Lots. They would have to rub the whole thing back, or a lot of it, to do it properly.
I would just get a touch up pen on to it if it was my car. If you ever have an insurance jobbie, get it done then.
What car do you drive? It might be time for a Carbon Fibre bonnet!

It's a 4 month old Euro.
Thought about a touch up pen. The scratch feels pretty deep though. I might ask for a quote the next time it's in for servicing. My excess is only 450, and I think the no-claim is protected for life (if not, it should be protected for life next year in May).

Nah, I can't stand cats. I've seen cats in the neighbourhood jump on warm car bonnets when it's cold. I suspect it's a cat, but it could've been something else. What I can't be sure. Perhaps someone in a public car park dropped something on it.

I have a few stone chips on my Euro. One was so deep that you could see the bare metal :( Got a touch up - to prevent rusting. However, you will still have a "crater" and will never get it perfect again, unless to send it into a panel beating shop to get a relatively large area spray painted and baked.

3M make like a clear vinyl stull that you stick on like a car bra. I will be getting this for my car when I get a kit for it. Stone chips are all too common up here when you pass trucks and 4WD's. I have ordered some of that teflon paint protection stuff from:
http://www.counteract.com.au/product/sealant.html
very cheap! I paid $60 for 1 litre with postage to my house. this enough to do a dozen cars or so. I recomend them. They are a QLD company and have the electronic rust protection kits for cheap as well!

Thanks for that tip R-Type+ :D . I've ordered my paint sealer today. Out where I live, there are too many trucks kicking up bloody stones.

No worries mate, My paint protection sealer stuff turned up today! It took stuff all to get here. I ordered it on 25/10 @ 10pm so 4 days to get here from QLD is tops. I will have to tell you guys how it goes. I polished up my pulsar (shit bored with nothing to do) and it is already totally covered in crap. This shit better work, but for $40 for 1 litre ($20 postage :( ) who cares? My thief of a dealer wanted over a grand for it.
