hey guys,

have been reading different forums and been researching wether to get my rims sprayed or powder coated (want them to be black, preferably gloss black) and most people say powder coating because it is more durable and lasts longer, doesnt chip as much etc etc

anyway im looking for some good places to get it done in the south east suburbs.

at the moment ive only been told one place:

A Class Powder Coating: 39 Cochranes Rd Moorrabbin.
has anyone dealt with these guys before? recomend?

Some one also said Top Gun Powder Coating in Clayton however i was unable to get in touch with them.

and don't say DIY because i dont have the time (or skills lol) to do it myself and want it done well.

cheers.

If you're willing to travel to the Northern Suburbs I can give you the details of a panel beater who does amazing work and at good a price.

Let me know.

yeah il grab the details of you, that would be sweet. Have you got any rims done there? how much did you spend per rim if you dont mind me asking.

it seems that the avg price is around $50 a rim from what ive heard. i don't know if that includes prep work, im assuming it does.

also is it important to get your rims sand blasted first? or can they just be cleaned well and powder coated over stock finish?

PM'd as I'm not sure if there's any rules regarding posting up details of panel beaters and stuff in the noob forum (if anyone else is after the address just shoot me a PM).

Good luck with your wheels :)

I've gone down this route before. If the wheels need to be prepped before hand then you'll need them to be acid bathed/blasted to get rid of the clear coat/paint and get it to bare metal.

Colorex
9548 8119
4 Hume St
Huntingdale
The above place acid bathed my rims, stripped the clear coat to bare metal, ready for powdercoating. It cost me $150 for a set of 4 15inch wheels

Top Gun Powder Coating
49 Winterton Road
Clayton
9558 6333
These guys powdercoated my rims @ $30/wheel. They give you a paint chart so you can choose whatever colour you want.

In total it cost me $270 and about a week but it's well worth it as the wheels are like new now.
