3400 yen? that's quite cheap...... the original key already cost like 80 bucks....

what I want is the Merc style keys..... press a button and the key flips out.... does anyone know if its possible to buy a blank Merc Key (if its available) and cut into a Honda key? and set the frequency of the remote too? I would pay up to 150 bucks for one..... even 200 :D

yaa...and u need to provide the CODE printed on a plastic tag. if that tag (or the serial) is lost, they can't cut u a replacement key. that's crazy. you may need to change the entire lock and immobilizer system.:D
i think 3400yen is just for the blank key that has no remote control....to cut and code the key by Honda is another story of $$$:(

i think it's too much of an hassle. just change the H logo on the key.

btw do u guys get that key code thingy when u got your car?? my dealer kept it and said Honda Australia keeps them so no one would lose it or something. this sound fishy to me....

yes! they gave me the tag with the code and the number. I think they shouldn't keep your tag since this is your personal stuff. If they have the code, they can cut your key and make the chip to open your car at anytime!!

had a locksmith come to work today and he was telling me a few weeks ago how he bought this little PDA looking thing that plugs into your ECU, e.g under the jazz and it lets you reprogram new keys for the car. He paid $11,000 for it and it costs a few grand just the database for one few brands of cars, cant program merc or BMW keys as they have their slightly more difficult system and apparently requires taking back to dealership.

Group order through Tanghy? Tanghy are you around

maybe different dealers do it differently. I only got the CODE on a plastic tag.

may someone has it on cardboard tag or metal:confused:

PhilipLee I think you may ask them if you can get the CODE back and keep it by yourself.

yeah i better do that. i think they wanna keep the tag so that if i lose my keys, they can rip me off for a replacement.....

so how much for the key tanghy?

if you reprogram a key without the code you have to reprogram the ECU.

My key code is written into my owners manual
