hi all,
Just recently purchased a 2007 accord euro auto which holds 140kw.

One thing that got me curious thought is that the new 2011 model my parents have is the same 2.4 ivtec auto and it has 148kw.

does anyone know it these cars are the exact engine with a simple tune improvement? or did Honda actually make changes to the engine?

Different ECU tune, the new euro has the K24Z3, and old euro had the K24A3

and slightly modified engine parts.

On the track when you line both cars up, the CL9 might beat the CU2 in a drag race. On a CL9, you can change the exhaust header too. Can't do that on CU2 as the 4-2 section its part of the head.

8kw extra... counter offset by the 200kg extra weight... there's no way a stock CU2 can beat a stock CL9.

Yes, if we have a 200kg man driving a CL9 and a ghost driving the CU2 (it's possible on mario kart alright!).

It may be a fair race. BRING IT ONNN.

and remember, 140kw / 148kw is the peak power at the crank.

the power delivery curve and torque number & torque curve play bigger roles in making a car fast.

lmfao!! maybe because the CU2 comes with an actual sub they were considerate by giving an extra 8kw thinking it would slow the car down.

When it comes to drag racing a car to compare side by side it all depends on these factors:
*are you stupid enough to put E10 in your car?
*did you try to add fuel and oil additives to your car for better response?
*do you have the luxury model that has all the heavy fancy gizmos?
*are you racing with a full tank of fuel or 1/4 tank of fuel?
*are you a fat guy racing a euro against another euro driver that's a midget?
*did u cheat by removing ur spare tyre from the boot?

the compression is much higher in the CU2, so i am "guessing" if you got the CU2 pistons & exhaust & headers into a CL9 and getting it tuned it might just match up. Of course you could never justify the cost in a project like this just to match a CU2.

if you got a standard CL9 & CU2 side by side it would be an interesting to see the results.

You wont be able to justify the cost to do this just to match a CU2. You would be best to actually spend money on a proper performance upgrade if you have decided to get your engine pulled apart.

The compression ratio isn't all that much higher

Getting cu2 parts into CL9 will make it worse if anything

A CL9 with a Hondata ECU reflash by itself will match CU2's output

WTF with bringing 200kg men and ghosts?

How about having a few extra blokes sit in the CL9 with you... good to see you guys are thinking outside the box though.

It's not faster than the old one. It's slower in fact.

It might have a bit more power but the car is about 200kg heavier. The old engine is also much better for tuning.

-.- how about putting a 200kg in the CL9 and a ghost in the CU2? this discussion is repeating itself.

the point of this thread was to see which car was faster... and its obvious the cl9 is faster... no point in adding more people to the CL9 to make it "more even" as that's how the cars were designed.. can't say get 4 extra people to sit in a civic to match the euro's extra weight to make it even lol
