what would happen if the flywheel is exposed?
like the dust cover for the flywheel is bent and has a gap and you can see the flywheel

Dust would get out...
There is a faint possibility that sticks & rocks might get in...
At worst... Cause the clutch to jam / fail....
At least... Cause absolutly nothing to happen...
What would be funier would be a curious cat...
(not exactly applicable to DC2R - dust cover is engine / GB support)

A lightweight flywheel aids in acceleration and engine braking...
This is bar none, the best bang for bucks mod to any NA car...
It does this by having less inertia...
As the vehicle must accelerate the mass of the flywheel prior to putting any power to the ground, any mass lost here is benificial.
Ie: 5kg off the flywheel is equivelant to 50kg off the vehicle in actual acceleration once it's passed through the gearbox.
Down side is some lightweight flywheels can cause an erratic idle...
(NB: TODA flywheels do not cause this problem)
Talk of reduced torque is nonsence...

Caution: Machining the OEM flywheel to become ultra light is a very silly thing to do if you value your testicles... These are first in the firing line should it explode.

What about stalling. Ive heard that if u get a flywheel too light, it can cuase stalling when the shifting and the rev's drop very fast. I'll probably look at a lightened flywheel when i get an uprated clutch soon.

What you say is correct, too light can be an issue with factory engine management. However, More often than not though the problem lies elsewhere (service / maintenance issue) and is overlooked by the owner and or repairer.
