Tempted to get a set of Z214, reading reviews here and there but really not that much information floating around.

Has anyone had any experience with this tyre? or want to chime in the advantages/disadvantages?

All feedback is welcome

*looking at BYP* haha

i used a set of the 214s on my car and when going through the first heat cycle its a very slippery tyre but as soon as you get some heat into the tyre after the 2nd or 3rd session then its very grippy.
Compared to the A050 mediums on brandons car the z214s didnt overheat as fast and held its grip levels for a much longer period of time.. at honda nationals i did 5+ consecutive hot laps and the grip levels never faded.
Its a superior tyre to the A050 in almost every way but isnt recognised as a time attack legal tyre so thats why ill be sticking with A050s from now on but if you just want to go out n have fun then the z214s are perfect for you as they are much cheaper than the A050s and the other rival tyres such as the Hoosier R6s that DNYALL uses.

What compound did you end up using? the C51 (medium)?

I've heard that the C71 (soft) wears a bit too quick

C51 225/45/17 front and 205/50/16 rear
i used them for 4 consecutive track days

Hoosier ftw!! I have never used either of the AO50's or the Hankooks. I did try the AO48's as well as the Dunlop 03g's. I found the Dunlops to be better than the advans and then the hoosier to be better than both.

Would love to try the hoosier but a tad over my price range :p

Agree, if your just out there to have fun, hankooks for sure. So damn cheap, decent size range, last a very long time and perform well! Z214 (M) > A050 (M) but its not a time attack legal semi.

They are very good tyres
We used Soft compounds on our EGK24A. Z214 provide better grip compared to the Yokohama AO48 I had before.
Bang for bucks tyres.

Advantages - Cheap tyre and performs well
- Heat Cycles well (gradual lost in performance)

Disadvantages - Not road legal so you'll need to bring it along to a trackday
- Not design for wet conditions
- Not a real time attack tyre

For a evo ill go for medium compound there much a heavier car, approx 1400kg. As for tyre size, i recommend you run 18's, 245/40/18 or 265/35/18 on AT least 18x9.5 +35 (prefer +22 but it'll require some rear guard work).

What's the benefits of going 18 over 17? Always thought 18 had more weight compared to 17
