Car was in neutral and boot my foot the gas! Only seemed to go to 5000RPM is this correct for the Auto model ?
hmmm interesting - manual is 4500rpm limit. If you move even at 1k/ph the normal cut out at 7300rpm applies.

electronic limited.
Well, think of it as another feature - the launch control system...just floor the gas & dump the clutch & here we go!!

Were you moving or stationary?

Stationary, in Neutral.
Although the clutch was pressed in, but would that make a difference?

It might. I've only tried it without pressing the clutch. And I got up to about 4500rpm before the limiter engaged.
BTW, don't rev it hard for long durations (1-2 seconds) with the clutch in. You will wear out the thrust bearing.

Didnt know it wore out the thrust bearing, dont even know what it is lol :p
[edit] I do now... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thrust_bearing
I may try it again without the clutch pressed.

Just realised, was your handbrake up or down? If you were pressing the clutch, that means your foot was not on the brakes. So your car could have been moving 1km/h!

Yeah I was on my driveway on a slope so the handbrake must have been up.
So:
Handbrake up
clutch in
Neutral
Stationary
