20th of July, 2014
At the Sugo circuit, the Super GT Championship took place in front of some 28,000 spectators. An endurance race over 300kms. The unstable weather of mist and sudden downpours caused differences in performances brought about by each and everyone’s choice of tyres. Some chose slicks and others chose wet tread tyres.
At Zent Cerumo, partnered technically by Motul (http://clixtrac.com/goto/?174818), the right choice was made straightaway to remain with slicks, so Tachikawa and Hirate’s Lexus RC-F took the lead in lap twelve and then built up its lead. At the end of the 20th lap, three Lexus drivers occupied the first three places, followed by three Nissans. Zent Cerumo’s car kept its fast pace despite the downpours and finished by gaining one lap over all the contenders and took the win. Its Tachikawa’s 16th, which gives him the record number of GT500 wins.

‘Keeping balance wasn’t easy on the wet track,’ commented the Japanese driver. ‘When it rained again, things worked out fairly fine: the track wasn’t overly damp, tyres for dry conditions were suitable. But when it began to rain again at the end, I really had to focus to avoid making any mistakes.’
The other Motul teams faired reasonably well in these difficult weather conditions, with a seventh place for S Road Mola and an eighth for the Weider Modulo NSX Concept-GT.
