still use 2-2.5" piping tho.. from the inlet(3")
any problems with this? just the turbo mufflers are larger in diameter etc.. hence more quieter for the car??
coz small NA ones.. are friggn loud as.. :(

Don't know if you are asking or giving us info, but basically with the turbo muffler you will have less back pressure and will have a bit more lag on take off also will be heaps louder. Not recomended unless you want your car to be slow and noisy.

so even if ur using a smaller piping diameter than the 3"... it wil stil be loud??

I'll have a used N1 replica with 3.5" outlet and 2.5" inlet available in the near future.
If you are happy to wait you can buy mine then. N/A Apexi N1's, as you'd already know, are impossible to source nowadays.

hmmm mate.. would not recommend it. as said, do that if you want a loud car without power. using a 3" inlet muffler would only make u lose power.

is there such thing as losing power??.. perhaps not gaining anything at all?

Of course you can lose power by doing mods that affect the engines tuning. Loss in back pressure will give you more lag on take off but it will be better up in the high revs.

I've sat in a NA car with a 3" turbo muffler... I couldn't hear myself think. And this was just cruising. I can still remember the drone..... haha

dont quote me on this but from a friend who once did my exhaust.
he said that turbo cars are usually quieter than NA cars, this is because the turbo makes the xaust system quieter... a turbo is the only muffler that adds performance lol.
Using common sense, i assume turbo mufflers wont muffle as much as NA mufflers. Therefore a turbo muffler on an NA car is usually louder?
Also i think backpressure is more to do with the exhaust piping size then with the muffler. A straight through muffler is a straight through muffler.
just my 0.002 cents worth..

i dont think the actual muffler would affect back pressure either, i also thought that was more of a piping diameter issue

hmm ok.. so a turbo muffler would just affect the kind of noise whether soft or loud.. i spose ya?

a turbo creates the backpressure within the exhaust, that is why they need bigger exhaust to release the turbo pressure.
an NA exhaust will have a smaller diameter pipe leading to the muffler for an ideal setup...
if you put a HUGE ugly cannon ball muffler on your car which is designed for a turbo car it will be really loud and really sluggish (not only is it loud but sounds crap)

wot if it is a hi-quality japanese turbo muffler? no difference?

wouldn't it also give you a really annoying drone to the exhaust cos of such a large outlet? I reckon it would be loud and with a really flat tone ie. sound like shit! i think what bum said is correct.

l'm guessing u have ur heart set on this thing?
there are plenty of cannons out there with 2.25 and 2.5 inlets, how about u go for one of those?

The twat i bought my car off had 2.25 " piping to this ridiculous fart cannon 4" turbo muffler. Loud as hell, and the car sounded like it was doing 120 km/hr when i mighta been doing 40. Put my spoon n1 on, got backpressure back, which meant more pull down in the rev range, and also it doesnt sound like a sack of shit anymore.

already got an exhaust.. but just like this particular turbo muffler version.. coz the NA is real small... and would be loud too..

A turbo application muffler, jap quality or not, of larger diameter/size, is simply going to sound like any other quality muffler of similar dimensions. Quality is important when it comes to some facets of car modding, but seriously... a tin can with two holes is exactly that.

basically a canon muffler is a canon muffer. when u get it fitted they will use a bit of adapter piping anyway. do whatever the hell u want, the only reason it would be labelled 'turbo exhaust' is it would have a 3 inch inlet to suit turbo applications.
it's not gonna sound quieter like u asked in your first post, my guess is it will have the "fart in a milo can" sound.
