Ok, Im new and Im also young. I was wondering how much you could increase the capacity on a 1.6L Civic engine? Could you get it out to as much as 2L? Anyone want to throw any rough prices around? What other things do you need to do after doing this? Im guessing you'd need a new ECU.
Thanks for helping the newb :D

MAte - sorry for the discreet "shove off" but have you used the search function at all ?
Go to www.honda-tech.com and do a search there first...learn all u can and then come back here when u acquire more knowledge.
(BTW as a general rule , any engine cannot be bored out to more than 200cc than its stock capacity)

dude, chill out on the man about the search function, u dont have to reply if u dont wanna help. everyone starts out as noobies man.
Anyway dude, the bore and stroke can be used to increased to almost any size except the limit that is placed physically by the cylinder walls (how thin it can go before cracking) and the stroke length (how tall the motor is).
I have seen 1.6 been bored and stroked to 2 litres so physically yes they can be done, but the price will knock u off ur feet.... stroker kits usually set u back 1,800 to 2,500 somewhere along there, and then ud need to pay someone to do the machining of the sleeves to fit in bigger bore pistons.
not cheap dude, would be chaeper to get a b20 block and resleeve that for strength

:?:
And how are new people meant to learn with a reply like that?
Did you even bother doing a search and posting the relevant link here?
No.
Don't bother posting useless shit unless you plan on helping people such as this new member.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, BUT, this thread was started by someone seeking knowledge/information so let's keep the thread to answering his question. ;)
Thanks.

Being the obvious pro you are mate , you failed to see that it was myself that said that old proverb. IF you had searched , you would of discovered this. :P
MY point in quoting this old "pauline hanson" line is - if we were to answer this particular persons question with more optimisim than careful thinking - then we lead this person on a futile journey. Its imperitive that everyone here searches , and learns for their self in their own time- there is no use telling someone how to do it , as they will not understand what they are doing, and possibly result in a negative experience .
But out of every person here i have helped him the most - showing him a website with a much larger database of knowledge to learn from !
Best of luck Jacko.

buy a b16a head ( unless your current engine is a b engine )
buy a b20 block
buy a vtec conversion kit so you can use your b20 block with ab16 head
do a quick rebuild on the block ( rings bearings and gaskets water / oil pump )
some nice ARP head studs... andyour good 2 go for a b20 2.0L civic.
I recomend Hondata for the ECU, no wiring changes no sensor changes plug and play.

Thanks alot, could you give me a rough price for this? It sounds pretty costly, I was guessing maybe 6- 8? Thanks again James.

Ok mate.
Its laden with sarcasm. For what reason ? Just then what have you done then ? Read up about something before you ask a stupid question - its just common sense. At the same time this forum isnt here for noobs and whoever alike to be eaten alive - its a forum for everyone to say whatever they dsam well please , a social hangout and a info line.
Incase you havent noticed...OH is less than 1 year young. And , the user database is growing still... there are other better places for info out there - and honda tech is one of them. Its plain nieve to think "our home " is the best in the universe." It can be...BUT it certainly needs all the resources and experience in the world to become it.
Without this bitchin we can make this place good ;)
Jacko - what other mods are u planing to do mate ?

man it suxs when everyone relates back to honda-tech .. honda-tech is good but not ALWAYS right... just because something is posted on honda-tech or the web doesn’t mean its correct... remember we live in Australia things are different... something’s work out here, that don't work there....simple things like altitude sensors effect results on our hondas......and guess what aust Honda’s don’t use them !!!! There are so many internet mechanics out there that think they know everything, but have they ever got there hands dirty ? no…I don’t care how much you read unless you do something more than 10x or so in person only then should you start giving advice.

yeah thast my whole point, so why point someone to hodna-tech like its gospel when they asked here in ozhonda, yep its an australian honda.
i know and u know james that not all hondas are the same, and we both know that stock kits that they claim make 300+whp are no more than 200whp in our dynos.
thats the reason why sometimes australian answers are better. im just sick of the shit that peeple keep coming wtih, oh serach, read honda-tech, i eman the post is there and im sure he has seen it many a time that theres other sources, but if he asks here why not let him ask.
dont let ozhonda become a honda-tech. anyways thats my last post im out
