I'm lookin at gettin some 17" volks for my ITR.
I'm wonderin if 17 X 8 will fit? What about 17 X 7.5?
For the 17X7, 17X7.5 and the 17X8, what would be a good offset.
Still not too sure about offsets? does any1 know?

GOOD question, i'm also interested as to what offset for a 17" x 8.0 i think maybe a +42 but not 100% certain...
joeylee: which volks are you looking at?
fasinn8: with 18x9s do your tyres scrape the inner guard when cornering hard?

Personally I wouldn't go any wider than 7" on a DC2R (8" is ok for DC5R). For a start it's not roadworthy to go more than 1" wider than the widest stock wheel from the manufacturer (for that chasis). And for DC2R that's 7" (stock rims are 6"). Having said that I know an offset of +40 -> +48 will work for a 7.5" wide wheel on dc2r. For a 7" wide wheel +35 -> +45 is about right.

I'm lookin at the GT-N's. Not too easy to find a pair of 17x7 though.
Yeah, I guessed that any bigger than 17X7 would be illegal.
I sourced a set brand new for a pretty good price but they're 17x8's. So this is my dilemma.
fasinn8: 18x9s they some fat ass wheels? did you need to do any mods for it to fit? What model teg?
Hey thanks heaps guys. I'll prob just try to source a set of 17X7's.
So itr025, with the 17X7's any offsets between +35 -> +45 is ok? what difference would it make if it was 35 as opposed to 45? Wheels stick out more???? Any difference in cornering, driving?
So, itr025, you have a dc2r too, do u know of any good kits that arent too common? I was quite intersted in the C-West or TR2 kits at www.carmate.com. Anyone have any opinions?

Hey, does anyone know where I can find the wheel weights for most wheels?
I want to find out how much the gt-n's are gonna weigh. I'm assuming that because they're volks, they wont be too heavy. any ideas?

volk gtn 18x7.5 = 18.5 lbs
volk gtn 18x8.5 = 19 lbs

Make sure you get the lug nuts made out of lead when you get the 17 or 18" wheels for your R, they will harsh improve ur handling and acceleration.
If I were you i would get
either 16 x 7 ce28's or te37
or 17 x7.5 ce28's ot te37
the 16 will give you better performance

A quick search on google:
http://www.superhonda.com/tech/wheel_weights.html
http://www.wheelweights.net/
http://www.miata.net/faq/wheel_weights.html
For the same width wheel, offset +35 will stick out of the chasis 10mm (1cm) more than +45. The only reason I know +35 will work is because that is the offset of the Spoon 16x7 SW388's that Spoon recommends if you run Spoon calipers. Though I have a feeling it will stick out a tad. I've run +43 -> +45 and they look perfect. I'd highly recommend running some light forged 16's if you're after performance.
Bodykit... sorry I haven't seen any bodykits for DC2 that I like... Though I like CF bonnets :D Only other exterior addition I can think of that I like is the Spoon CF lip for JDM DC2R.
VTECACCORD: Lug Nuts made out of lead??? That would add extra unsprung weight no? (although probably marginal). RAYS wheel nuts which I think we're both running are like 25-30g and made out of Duraluminum...

hmm... i'm also looking for volks but i want 17x8 my friend runs 17x7.5 and has had no issues he's even run it on track without scraping...
joey if you get an offset of +35 in 17" it may scrape if you don't have stiff suspension
yes 16" will give you better performance but if you want performance only i don't see anything wrong with the standard wheels i love the look of them and they're quite light, if i'm not mistaken they're forged aluminium or some sort of alluminium alloy???

Standard AUDM DC2R rims are cast not forged. But they are very light for an OEM rim. However a very handy amount of weight can still be saved by going to forged 15's or 16's from stock.

hmmm... depends what you're looking for then i guess, i want some wheels for street i just use my stockOs on the track as i can't afford another set of wheels and can't afford to run semis on the street
if i had the money i'd definitely get a set of te37s 16" and 17" for the street... i only race on track not the street, so i don't mind if my street wheels are heavier it's just for looks.

i alwayz thought stock dc2r rims were volk ce28n rims for sum reason
itr025
20-07-2005, 04:47 PM
I also really like the look of 17's, however the two issues that concerned me were
1. weight and
2. 205-215/40/17 tyres would offer little protection from potholes (bent rims :( ).
Though I guess for 2, plenty of people have run 17" on DC2s...

Woooo. So the GT-N's are that heavy? Lot heavier than I thought. Oh. just realised they were 18's you quoted.
Defeats the whole purpose of the CF bonnet, although they are quite easy on the eyez.
itr025: cheers. Don't seem to have any of the GT-n's in the 17's listed. If 18's are:
volk gtn 18x7.5 = 18.5 lbs
volk gtn 18x8.5 = 19 lbs
Does anyone want to have an educated guess at what 17x7 and 17x8 would be???
Koncept: I have cusco adjustables. The suspension is real stiff! But it has been lowered. Not 100% sure of the exact drop. But I have about a 2cm clearing from the tyre to the guard. So if 17X8's are gonna stick out bout 1cm more...........plus the extra radius from the jump from 15 ->17's may cause some dramas???
Just called quickfit tyres......... they reckon it'll fit but need to have my guards rolled.
I don't mind the GT

This site's the sh*t....
was a bit frustrated after buying my DC2R, realising that no-one in the A.C.T knows jack bout Honda's. Even the dealerships here are so dodgy that they don't know what my wheel stats would be.......this was back in the early days mind u.....not that I know how the offset works now.......but........it's good to know that there are alot of other people out there with excellent taste in cars, if I may say so myself.... :)....Even if I can't say the same for the A.C.T......
Keep it up fellas......
**....vtec accord....I agree that the te37's look good. but I think wheels with more spokes 8-10, on a integra look much better....personally. I like the CE28N's. It was a toss up between those and the GT-N's. Think its the battle of looks vs performace. Although the CE's look real nice, I think the only reason why I'd choose them over the N's is for the lighter weight. Why do you think I should go for the other 2? perf, looks, both????

one other thing....the guys I was about to buy the 17X9 GT-n's from told me that most second hand and all new volks don't come with the centre caps....which puzzled me a bit. Most second hand volks I've seen come with em...and I'm wondering why the hell wouldn't new one's come with 'em?
Anyone have any ideas???
The one's I was gonna buy had one missing U C....maybe they were trying to pull one on me????????

can you guys tell yet that I've been deprived of honda wisdom for some time now.....4 posts in a row.......
I'm kinda new to this....should i be creating a whole new thread for each different topic???
Alright...I swear this is the last post.............................consecutively, that is....

my motto is this, if your gonna get an R then you should make changes that improve the performance not downgrade it, its sacriligious. If your gonna downgrde performance get a GSI or VTIR instead.
I say get the ce28's for the light weight if you dont like the 16's get the 17's, just get something thats lighter than stock. Oh and yeah new volks dont come with centercaps, they cost extra. Mine dont have centercaps.
thats just my 2 cents, ur free to do what you want though.

Agreed, but like I said you'll struggle to find any 17" rim that is at least as light as the stock 15's.

ok joey i did some asking around today and i'm going to go with 17x7.0
Reasons been:
1. 225/40/17 is what i was advised to use on the 17x8.0 he said 215/40/17 wouldn't fit nicely on them (stretching the tyre) and i don't know how much power your R has but i'm not gonna make use of 225s on my teg to its full potential
2. i've "heard" 17x8.0 will fit on an integra but i'd rather not risk scraping as i will not be able to send my wheels back to rays simply because i chose the wrong size.
3. 215/40/17 will fit perfectly on 17x7.0 and i think that's as wide as i need for the street anyway

cheers koncept.
very helpful.
bit hard to source a set of volk ce28n's or gt-n's in 17X7 though.
I think I might have to settle for 17x7.5! Hoepfully this will fit. I'm prob go for a 43 offset, so I can adjust using spacers if necessary.
Anyone know where to source used volks??? I'm currently looking on nissansilvia.com.
Anyone know of any others?

A good guide is to only go 1 inch wider than stock. Make sure when u purchase tyres that u keep the overall rolling diameter. Best place to confirm this info is a reputable tyre place like bridgestone and not internet mechanics ( no offense to any1 ). Its important especially if u track your car

Avoid at carmate at all cost. The bodykits they sell are poor fitting and are are poor quality. Especially their painter get this i bought a bonnet scoop off carmate and i got their painter to spray my side skirts and bonnet scoop.
My bonnet scoop wasnt even primed first just colour sprayed on my workmate that is a painter confirmed this as u could see all the fibreglass fibres when the car was in the sun.
My side skirts had all paints runs all over my side skirts.
What makes things worse is that my gf paid for all this to get done for my bday present.
Carmate's customer service is shocking! they didnt wanna know me after they installed the parts on my car.

Would these rims fit on a dc2r:
16x7.5 +36 front
16x8 +36 rear
Or would I need a camber kit or some other mod?
EDIT: Yeah sorry for resurrecting an old thread...
