This is the version of the new Civic for the Australian market.
http://www.honda.co.jp/CIVIC/
1.8 i-VTEC engine
103kw/ 6300rpm
174Nm/ 4300rpm
5 speed manual or 5 speed auto
We will not get fancy features such as the smart key system (Keyless-go) or VSA.... but we will get EBD. That counts for something in a small car, with the big seller being the new 5 speed auto.
Just got word- vehicle will be on sale in Q1 of 2006, to be sourced from the Thai factory.

looks real good compared to the american one... i'd buy one if my current civic gives me ne more headaches....
theres only 4 body types atm for civic yeh?\
as in
1. JDM sedan (as above)
2. ugly USDM sedan
3. Euro Hatch
4. USDM coupe
so basically we only getting the JDm sedan and none of the other 3?

1800cc SOHC i-Vtec 140ps..........once u get Header, Intake, Exhaust + Vtec controler.....is not hard to push it up to 150-160ps.....thats enough to beat the Lancers:D
**Ghost**
23-09-2005, 02:30 PM
terry...lancers will be equiped with 2.4litre 115KW mivec man... mroe torque, more power from factory

115kw.....thats quick:!:
to kill MIVEC? haha this job may need to left it for Integra:D

23-09-2005, 03:25 PM
i know and its for base model lancer as well... dont look as good as the civic tho, but damn that thing makes wayyyyyyyyyyy more torque than a civic
1800cc SOHC i-Vtec 140ps..........once u get Header, Intake, Exhaust + Vtec controler.....is not hard to push it up to 150-160ps.....thats enough to beat the Lancers:D
And it has simular torque ratings as past B18xx engines. Mmmm I want one. Would be a very nice cruiser. Especially Black
terry...lancers will be equiped with 2.4litre 115KW mivec man... mroe torque, more power from factory
Still funny though how there latest technology 2.4 Liter MIVEC engine still pushes less than a b16a which is only 1.6L and 15 year old technology.
7th Gen
23-09-2005, 09:04 PM
its funny. when the initial pics came out, most people bagged it out and everything. but now we get the mugen versions and suddenly its the best thing since sliced bread :D
looks a bit too much like my 7th gen for my liking. i like the interior, very nice
the blue mugen ones (if you squint hard enough) looks like a mini version of an XR6T etc with the blue, big wing, the glasshouse/windows, quad headlight etc
bet ya Honda Aus doesn't bring out all these hot bits though :(
damn new civic interior looks nice pity I just got my accord vti. (if I only had held out for a few more months I could have got the civic and save myself a few grand) sighs

Although it seems we will only get the sedan in OZ I think that it looks great. It looks more classy and "grown up" than the Lancer and yes,I know that the Lancer now has the 2.4 ltr, well,so does Honda ,not in the Civic ,but at least it has 140 kw and 223 NM,which shows that Honda is just in another league with it's engines.Imagine if Honda decided to do a 2.4 ltr for the S2000 !!
Anyway,check out the link below.

not bad at all...
r the japs only gettin the sedan as well? no hatch? =/

wots the other engine we getting besides r18? we relaly do need a k20a, but i think i get a sinking feeling its oging to be the d17a
damn that's nice...
cmon, y complain and compare a 2.4L lancer to a 1.8L civic... think PETROL ppl... PETROL!!! Hahaha...
i'd take a daily driver civic over a lancer anyday nomatter wot it's got under the bonnet (i'm talking daily driver, not evo ;) )
then wots the other "model" of civic besdies the GLi? is itgoing to be a CXi with a D16 or something?
we'll get the GLi and probably the Hybrid (petrol/electric) and then hopefully the Coupe. we wont get the Si (K20) coupe till 2007.. when the Type R and possible CRX are due for production - but prob not AUS release.
TOV dynoed the couple EX .. which has the R18 unit...
*150-155 hp/112-116kw @ the engine

didnt understand that article... is it trying to say that the R18 makes more power than advertsied?
the figures also quote the civic does -100 in 8-8.5seconds...thats about wot a stock b16a pulled wasnt it|?
yeah i guess its just tryin to state they were a bit suprised by the power figures... turned out to be quite a bit more than on paper..
but then again.. keep in mind these r Honda PR cars.. they'd be slightly pampered/tweaked

honda doesnt beleive there is a market for the sports ones here...
and the fact some of them are made in england it will cost way to much to bring them over here and the price will be over 30k.....

its a real shame though.. .that the once strong sport pedigree is now going down the shitter due to a different company direction of building more and more for the masses.... no leaps of faith. Just got the new honda tuning and it shows the new 197hp civic si coupe... which i doubt we will ever get the chance to even look at over here. So dissapointing :thumbdwn:

Civic Coupe won't come out here purely as it will undercut Integra sales.
I would have thought they would have priced this vehicle in the 23-24k range.
For 28k, I'd rather just fork out another 6k and get myself a Euro.

u have to remember the older civis were like 30k anyways...so they are still cheaper

The VTi-R hatch was good value at the time with a superb engine with no rivals. My old EK Civic CXi hatch, which I purchased new was 20K with options - great value.
At this price point, with good competition from the Mazda 3 SP23, Corolla Sportivo - Honda need to bring out a product to appeal to that 20-30 group.

they also have a very small price range to fit the car between
lower is the jazz (24 for vti-s)
higher is the accord euro\ accord v6 \ integra (low 30s)
last thing honda wants is to compete with itself so i think the pricing is somewhat reasonable considering

100% agree man (RyDC5S). if 23k i can still think ^>^. otherwise go bigger car ^-^ Euro but come to think of this 2007 euro is coming out? new model?

That's where' you're wrong.. yes they axed the VTiR Coupe because it conflicted with both the DC2 Type R and the DC5 integra, however in MY2007/2008 I expect the coupe to arrive in AUS as Honda intends to axe the Integra (may possibly be re-branded RSX when Acura are released in AUS) and fill the hole with the Civic.

not having a go at you, but what makes you "expect" the coupe to come here in AUS, and Honda axeing the integra line.
