well it may not b competely dead but its on the way out atleast
i realli have two options besides leaving it to die
1. replace the clutch with another oem part
2. get an aftermarket part so it doesnt die again
but the prob i hav is i dont think they make aftermarket items for my d16y4
any help would be appreciated
cheers

A clutch is a consumable aka wearing item.

like i said on vtechnique get a Exedy HD clutch. not much more than an oem item.
worthwhile especially if you're planning mods in the future

Yea i agree.. i went thro a similar dilema with my EG. But the HD clutch was said to have nearly double the life span (and i kinda like heavier clutches - asuming your gettin an increased pressure plate as well) than your OEM ones for not much more.. worked out more efficient from the figures i read/was told.

i was told something along the lines of (so dont quote me) ~ 50 k for OEM ~80-100 for HD ... and for a clutch that is alot less than double price that can last double the life span.. its more efficient =]

the exedy HD clutch wont have double the lifespan of an oem item. the clutch surface plate is the same but uses a pressure plate with a higher clamping force. so they can take the same amount of wear.
the exedy sports organic clutches have a longer lasting surface plate but they aren't available for d series.

sivic,
I have a ED Civic with a D series motor, with an Exedy Sports Organic Clutch kit. The part number is: HCK6896SO and Exedy sell Sports Organics for D series but it depends on the application.
Personally, the Heavy Duty ones are just as good despite not lasting as long as a Sports Organic.

Surrafus, Id look at the HD one too as suggested above providing its available.

I had my clutch rebuilt by Ross @ Autoclutch with an OEM organic plate mated to a 1500lb pressure plate.(stock being 1100lb) Within 40k kms its also starting to slip. However im also putting twice the amout of power thru it than you are but the biggest wear factor the clutch will have is from your driving style.

Let us know how you go :)

Ask one of the ozhonda traders that deal in exedy for specific info on pricing etc. Or fill out this (http://www.exedy.com.au/distributor-finder.aspx) form on exedy website to find the nearest dealer to you and get more info off them. I have found them to respond fairly quickly.
