What do you need to fix the Vtec pressure valve for a b16a?

My engine light goes and i checked it doing the paper clip trick.

Anyone know how to do a DIY on this? Or i can just fix the problem with just buy another vtec solinoid?

first thing I would do is check that you have enough oil in the car... low oil will result in low oil pressure, which will trigger that code

you need to do a continuity test on you VPS, you should have continuity when not in Vtec, when there is pressure on the VPS the continuity will go away

Vtec Pressure Switch
its a switch not a valve, BTW im talling about the switch that senses the change in oil pressure when Vtec kicks in. code 22

DjRob: Are you talking about the...
VTEC oil pressure switch? (normally green sensor)
or
VTEC activation solenoid? (actually engages VTEC, looks like a C battery)

Hey Rob,
If so, replace the switch with a secondhand one. Common part for B16/18 & D16 VTEC, I think even the H22 has it

Just ask for the green sensor under the Dizzy if the wrecker does not know what it is.

Honda OEM, they want an arm & a leg for it.

yeah? i was just thinking of going to Honbits on the weekend but looks like im gonna go now. I know which switch it is.. right under the solinoid. I couldnt even reverse it in the car park this morning. It kept on stalling and engine light clicking away.

i just got a new clutch put in i thought the mech farked up my car till i checked the ecu codes

2 long ones and 2 short ones

Thanks man i will do that if it doesnt work i'll just take it to the mechanics i cant do a DYI if i dont know what im doing hahaha

Get the mechanic to check over the clutch, just in case.

I paid about $25 for my switch, as it broke off my engine during freight.
