I know the EK Vti-R civic have equipped with 1 way LSD on both Auto and Manual model, but is the vti model also equipped with the LSD as well? If not, is there any aftermarket LSD available for vti? How much are they? Any help would be great! Thx a lot!:D

Install of a LSD is not for the faint hearted. Best left to the professionals!

Def can be bought aftermarket, quaife are one of the best but outrageous prices. Try and find a secondhand LSD equipped gearbox.

I have heard the JDM EG4/8 D15B VTEC motor comes with an LSD in both manual & auto. I have a cable clutch so I not able to fit the gearbox.

Not sure how hard these 'boxes would be to find...

Do all EK VTi-R's have LSD's? ?

NO! AUDM EK4 and EM1 are open.

I am sure the JDM EK4 had the Helical Diff as an option.

DOCH: Find an ITR B18C type gearbox with an LSD. Either fit that box or have the LSD fitted to your existing box.

JDM is our friend, they got all the good sh!t

what is the different between a civic with and without LSD? much better handling? Like putting a strut bar thats sort of improvment?

PS: Can a EG8 auto gearbox fit into EK?

no

im gonna be getting a lsd with my new setup. OBX LSD. they go for ~450usd shipped + install.

KAAZ, QUAIFE, OBX and PHANTOM all make lsd's for d-series in different grades. there was only 1 OEM LSD which was off a malay d15b vtec, and its hella rare.

they actually seem to be getting pretty good reviews, as long as you make sure everything is tightened down when you get it, and some people have had trouble with axles locking into them... which can be easily avoided by modifying the axles very slightly. Apparently this problem has occured in the quaife units as well. There are many obx lsd's stateside with 400+ hp being pushed through them without a problem.

Also the EG5 in Japan came with optional LSD , and earlier EF3 or EF7 came with it as well ( not sure if optional) ~ all "bolt in" for the S3 tranny ive heard.
what kind of pretty dollar is the OBX setting you back ?

OBX LSD, cheaper..and pretty good.

I am using one and don't have an issue with it. Its effects are more pronounced when driving on wet roads. Instead of slipping, the car just pulls.

LMFAO this is the first i've ever heard of the EK4 VTiR or even EM1 VTiR's having LSD's !! even JDM models only had an LSD as an optional extra. the only models to have an LSD as STANDARD are the EK9, DC2-R and the EF9 SiR-II.. any others that MIGHT have had them were simply optional.

There IS an optional OEM LSD for the Asian-Market EG5's and i've seen the part number kicking round on here but I fear an OEM LSD would set you back $1-2k even for the D-series.

What is a 1 way LSD? Is this the same as an open diff?

id say so.. havnt heard of a 1 way..
there are also different types of lsd's. helical, clutch etc. helical is the expensive type, clutch are cheaper but wear out.

What is a 1 way LSD? Is this the same as an open diff?

1way lsd is like its only active on acceleration, where as 2 way work on both acceleration and deceleration

i think 1 way or 1.5 way is for fwd cars?
2ways for rwd

correct me if i am wrong :)

but how does the helical lsd work? any1 knows?
