Hey guys can anyone recomend any quieter tyres that dont have so much road noise in the 205-40-17" size that are reasonably priced?

Nothing in 17's that are quiet yet reasonably priced. Hankook/Firenza seem to have good grip and low noise but it all depends on how much you want to spend. Also run 40psi tyre pressure and road noise will be reduced a LOT!

40 psi, is that on most tyre brands regardless of profile? never heard of that one but i'll surely try. i've got 195/65/15 atm.

With 195/65R15 you would not want to have more than 34psi in your tyres when they are cold.

A lot of people fit 17's and run 34psi which makes road noise increase and cause premature wear and/or damage, 40psi is a minimum for 205/40's and my 215/35R18's have a minimum of 42psi but they are whisper silent with 45psi.

i run 38psi warm in my K104's 225/45/17

before you pump up anything higher than 40psi, make sure u read your maximum pressure printed on you tyre's sidewall. You never go over the max pressure.

Try the Hankook XQ Optimos (H422) they are super quiet.

A lot of low profile tyres do not have a maximum tyre pressure. Only the tyre bead seating pressure(normally 38psi)
