Rim size

I know this is such a noob question.
what is the width of the stock rims.i know that they're 16 inch but i don't know the width for front or rear. when buyin a set of rims, do i need to get two pairs?

If you are purchasing new wheels, then yes you need four new ones. Or are you referring to tyres?


For stock rim size, check your owners manual. They are probably something like 6-7" wide.

fronts are 16x6.5" and rears are 16x7.5"

so if he is buying new wheels, for example 18s he would have to get 18x6.5" for the front and 18x7.5" for the rear? could he go 18x7" for the front and 18x8" for the rear... could they be the same width or does the rear always have to be 1" bigger... sorry i dont know anything about wheels...

dont think its possible to get 18x6.5

u can go 8" wides front and rear if u want..
im currently running 19x8 fronts and 19x8's on the rears. with 235/35 tyres with 40 offset, lowered about 3"... scrubs a tad.. but only because its too low cause it scrubs the top section of the plastic splash guards.

If you want to maintain the manufacturer's handling characteristics the wheels should be staggered (wider at rear) but hell, if you're slammed 3" on 19s with incorrect offsets it doesn't matter how wide the tyres are the insurance comapny will just laugh if you try to make a claim.

im in no position to comment...but i dont see the point of buying a sports car and weighing it down with huge rims which weigh a tonne! i had 18" Tempe style on the car when i first pruchased it and after i slapped on the lightweight RAYS you could feel the difference....

if i was to get a s2000 i would get some nice looking 18s and if i did go to the track i would put the stock wheels back on, that would work wouldn't... i am not a fan of lowering. s2000's are low enough already.

That's exactly what I do. I have Work S2Rs for the road and stock wheels with R spec tyres for the track. I am lowered a bit with H&R springs but that's because I am intouch with my inner ricer.

For s2k, rear wheel offset is larger than front one.I think 16*6.5 front, 16*7.5 is factory offset.

The numbers you've quoted are the diameter and width. The 'offset' is a different thing altogether.
