the first thing to do is remove the old CD playerr which can be annoying.

You may need to pull a fair bit of the dash out as im pretty sure alot of CD players have a bracket bolting it in place.

Quite often I have found that the colour of wiring found at the speaker does not correspond to the wiring found at the dash so you don't know which of these dash wires to hook up to your head unit. A trick I use is connect a dash wire to a positive power source (can be straight from your battery using a piece of wire) and use a test light to see where the power comes out at the speaker end.
