hey guys.. ive got a DA9 integra.. ive mildly done things to the engine.. but its not really getting me much.. but there are many other things to do such as my cams and internal etc...

anyways.. i was thinking should i just aim towards getting a VTEC engine?? if so i know that the B-series will be good.. but then ive got the dilemma between the B16As and B18Cs?? which one should i go for??? that is the 1.6L or 1.8L?? keeping in mind its going into the DA..

and if i shouldnt do the conversion what will be a big power gaining mod i should next??

:honda:

doesnt really matter if u got a DA or a DC, if u plan on performing an engine conversion, all tegs should have a b18 of some sort :) (this is due to the fact that ur only lookin at b16a and the b18c)
get a b18c in there, do ur usual I/H/E mods and u'll feel a considerable difference :)

i kno that the xsi had a b16a, but i was meerly stating, that imo, all tegs lookin for at a conversion should go b18c to achieve any sort of considerable gain

I agree with Q Ball. If your gonna be upgrading why would you only take a step to a b16 when you can step all the way to a b18. Expecially as a base for mods.

I say go with a B18B if you are thinking of going turbo. If not, go B18C.
The reason is that the B18B probably has a lower compression ratio than the B18C.

P.S there are some nice turbo kits on ebay for B18B!!!

lower compression does generally mean running higher boost, however doesnt necessarily mean better.
cuttin it short, high compression + hi boost + good tune = awesome power!!
lets not turn this into another "which engine is best for boost" thread.
back to topic!!

If money isn't an issue then B18CR 4 sure!

5-7 grand for a stock B18cR conversion

OR

5-7 grand on doing up your current engine with a b16a head with full internals that will eat the b18cR alive.

compression in frankenstein blocks are considerably higher, thus producing more power!

agreed ^^
a frankenstien engine with a good internal build and tune will wasted a stock B18CR engine for sure!
ATSEK4 is a prime example.. his CR-VTEC isnt even tuned right and is an animal on four wheels!
