hey guys

Does any one know if there is a way of finding out if the car u want to buy is on finance? So that your car wouldn't get taken of you becuase they didn't pay the loan or somthink like that. Is there a number to call or a place you have to go to?

thanks you.

In NSW we use REVS to get that information. I'm sure there will be something similar for QLD. Try giving Fair Traiding QLD a call #13 13 04. They should be able to do a check for you. You will need the Rego#, Vin/Chassis#, & Engine#.

hi there. i used to work in the REVs (Registry of Encumbered Vehicles) here in good ol Brisvegas.

ring 13 13 04 and say u wanna do a REVs check. they'll ask for the rego#, VIN, and engine#. There's an $11 fee using credit card over the phone. The certificate will be mailed to your address or can be faxed (but this option will cost $14.80 instead of $11).

however u MUST do this on the day that u sign the papers as this will be your proof of sale. this is to avoid any repossessions in future. so what u can do (if you're willing to pay the price is), do a REVs check now, then do another one on the day u sign papers.

its a small price to pay for peace of mind. and dont think this is a sales pitch as i DONT work for them anymore. just giving advice....

If you are looking at buying a car id recommend it for $32.95 you get a report detailing:

(Vcheck Premium is only available for Queensland.)
Vcheck Premium provides the vehicle's identification and registration status, historical information contained in the Queensland Transport registration database plus a financial encumbrance report (REVS) including:
• Stolen status
• Written-off status
• Where recorded, the Expiry date of registration, last recorded odometer reading, VIN, make, model, body shape, year of manufacture.
• First date of registration in Queensland, transfer history, odometer reading at transfer (where recorded) and purpose of use (Private use, Taxi, Hire car, etc).
• Whether there is clear title on the vehicle (no money owing to a financier).
So could save you a lot of money in the long run!
