The d16y8 is essentially the 'vtec' version of the y4. People often use these engines to do 'mini-me' swaps (ie putting a vtec head on a non-vtec block). They were found vti ek civic's and the like.

Not sure what the valve train kit is, but maybe on of the more knowledgable guys will know?

And, for the sake of clarity, the y1 (d16y1) is the EG sohc vtec:thumbsup:

im currently using the type s cam in my car

its pretty good
but im yet to get it dynoed.

you can put the cam in without mods but to get the most out of it its best to port and polish your head etc..

but yeah atm i have installed it and its been going pretty good.

this is a small clip i took with my phone

cam means camshaft. not cam gear ( only one gear for SOHC ).

as EG5 KRT said valve train kit is higher spec springs ( dual ) and retainers and cam upgrade.

if you just put them in you wont notice a major difference unless you have the ecu remapped, then you unleash its full potential.

So, if I get the valve train kit and remap ecu how much am I lookin at?
EG5 KRT hasn't done the remapping ehy?
R U planning to do it?
