Hello, has anyone seen a Xenon HID installation guide for the new 06/07 civic? Eg: how to take front bumper off, where to put ballast etc. My Xenondepod 6500k just arrived today :) It would be great if you could post a link here. Can't wait to install it~~

Heheh iam back to this forum again!! just bought a civic 06 sport.. dude u have to be patient install this,,,
1. Disconnect battery terminal on both sides
2. Remove battery from vehicle (makes it a bit easier, but not necessary)
3. Remove upper grill cover clips. (1 on each side by the fender, and two in the middle by the hood release)
4. Remove 2 philip screws, 1 on each side of bumper by the tire.
5. Remove the bumper clips below the vehicle.
6. Using an allen key, unbolt the two bolts holding the bumper left. They are located on top of the bumper, in the middle of the front by the hood release.
7. Slow pull on one end of the bumper, moving your hand closer to the middle of the front of the car. Then do the other side. Finally just take the bumper away from the vehicle CAREFULLY.
--That's pretty much the hard part!
8. Using a 10mm long extension rachet, remove the headlamp housing bolts. There's 1 deep one, one located on the amber side of the headlight, and two bolts on top. 1 is easy to spot on top..right next to the fender. Its the silver bolt, not the one color matched to your vehicle (that one removes the fender). Then the last bolt is inside the front frame rail. You'll see a bunch of holes, its the silver bolt.
9. Unscrew that colored match bolt for the fender. (makes it easier to remove the headlamp.
10. Remove headlamp carefully!!!
11. Remove lightbult by turning and then pulling out
12. Remove the 3 little screws around the gasket where the bulb came out.
13. Insert the HID bulb into the hole, and screw in 3 new longer screws. Don't overighten as you can break the bolt or bulb. Just tight enough where the bulb does not move in any direction and gets a good seal. The bulb does not fit in like the stock bulb because it has a bigger base.
-- Take a break now, you're doing great!
14. Put the headlamp housings back into place and bolt them back up. Make sure the 2 wires coming out of the bulbs are easily accesible.
15. Find a mounting spot for the ballasts and use the double sided tape or metal brackets to bolt it up. I mounted them below the headlamps. Make sure its not too far away from the headlamps because you have to connect the other box to the headlights from the ballast.
16. Now all your left doing is running the large wire harness from the battery to each of the ballast and connecting the other connections to the stock factory connectors. Zip tie the wires away from any of the cooling fans, exhaust manifold/convertor, belts, etc.
17. Connect the two relays to the wire harness.
18. Finally connect the harness to the battery.
Test out the bulbs to make sure it works properly.
19. Replace the front bumper and upper grill cover.
20. Adjust the aiming downwards to keep from getting a lot of middle fingers.
21. You're all set!
Next thing i'm going to do is retrofit some TSX housings or possibly make eyelids for the stock headlamps to keep the beam from blinding other people and making it more straight rather than all over.
Hope u can understand

I thought the HID could be installed without removing the bumper? Just follow the manual for changing a lightbulb
Manual states for low beams - turn wheel left/right, remove fender and locate bulb
Manual states for high beams - open bonnet and on right side, bulb is accessible and right bulb you need to remove a white container to access bulb.
Can other Civic 8th gen confirm?
Another question is: do I need to modify my headlight to make the HID work properly? I read somewhere that some cars needs to modify headlights as it will not shine through properly.

I went a different route & mounted 2 Lightforce "170" driving lights on a "Uni Bar". While i admit it doesn't do a lot for the look of the car, the end result is fantastic giving me approximately 500 meters of good light.

Hey guys, just some quick note for my installation, it took me about 3 hours for the first time to install it. Most time spent on trying to figure out how to take off the front bumper bar, the real Xenon installation took about 30 min.
Yes, you do need to take off the front bumper bar in order to secure the transformer or balaster (spell? :/) onto the frame body, otherwise it is too difficult.
And the instruction listed by furiouswilly actualy applies for the USA Civics, there are some difference. But mostly similar.
Yes, the HID could be done on almost any car on the market.

I cant see why these lights could not be fitted to the CTR, however, like the sedan it will do nothibg for the look of the car. However, it u want good lights it is the only way to go.
The primary reason i went this route was entierly due to the amount of wildlife on the local roads in my area.

There must be another way without removing bumper. I have a mugen grille and its an ARSE to install. There must be places under the bonnet to install the ballasts

^Mine is attached to the battery on one side and a sheet of metal on the other and then the wires are tied to surrounding ones.

sweet. any chance u have pics of the one opposite the battery? And how are the lights compared to stock other than white color? Just a quick description would be appreciated
edit: is the light dispersion ok? Did you do any modifications to the headlights lens or just plug and play?

I bought myself some HB4. I know this thread is for Xenon, but i gather the installation process would be the same (low beam).
Ive been going at it for 30min and gave up. The manual says to remove a couple of studs and pull the fender back to gain access to the low beam bulb. I removed the 2 studs plus 2 other ones and i still have no luck removing the fender.
Has any FD owners changed their bulbs and successfully removed the fender? If yes, please shed some light.
thanks

Its a 15 minute job, remove the 2 front lower plastc luga from the inner gaurd, pull back the bottom portion of the plastinc inner guard to gain access to the low beam bulbs. the High beam bulbs are accessable from inside the engine bay. You will have to remove the plastic radiator overflow bottle from in front of the battery to gain access to left side.

Hey Shimian, once you have removed the studs + a Phillip screw which secures the front bumper onto the body at above 2 o'clock position of driver side wheel, then you need to pull the fender hard to open it, you might need to pull away the front bumper cover a little first or even at the same time. Have a go, good luck :)

Ive removed the 2 studs also another 2 near it but the fender will not pull back. Ive used relative force to pull it back but still no luck. The part i tried to pull is from the fender arch. Is this correct? Would it be because i have a bodykit? The ends of the front bodykit has 2 screws attached to the carbody and it looks like the fender slides under it. Its hard to tell as my head could not go under to look in.
Yea hi beams are accessible and also the parkers which ive managed to do. You mention "pull back the bottom portion of the plastic inner guard". Not sure where you are referring to.

Which screw secures the front bumper? Do you have a pic or diagram?
any help is appreciated greatly
I can't wait to get my HIDs done.. once my Crystalvision bulbs blow, I'm going for it. The brightness/penetration is crap in stock headlamps.

Got myself some white halogens to see whether i like to drive in white. I know HIDs are much brighter but atleast it will give me an idea. I dont want to spend $300-$400 for a set and find i dont like em.
Unfortunately i had no luck installing the white halogens as i CANT GET ACCESS AND THE FENDER WONT OPEN :( I was looking forward to installing my new toy :(

LOL, finally got it to open up. Had to remove a few extra studs. Manual is so useless. Anyways, not used to driving with white. My first night testing it was on wet roads. Cant see a thing. Only can see the light when im behind another vehicle. Rocked into my garage and it was bright.
Would HIDs be 2X or 3X brighter than a standard halogen?

Did you need to modify your headlamp or did you just install the HID straight? And after installation, did you need to do any adjusting?
does anyone know how to pull the machine cover ? Anyone comes with the step by step picture?thanks anyway

White is nice but I think, it may appear brighter but it doesn't feel as good when you actually drive in pitch black areas- I live near a place which doesn't have street lighting in some areas as my friends live on acreages... and HIDs make it a whole lot nicer, although I do worry that should someone be oncoming traffic they'll get very annoyed at my HID brightness.

You can always do a test. Park your car on the side with lights on and you drive in another car from opposite direction. Then see if you get blinded. You might have to dip the lights a little?
