Can it be complianced for Australia? I know their rules and much more relaxed than ours. Private import requires you to live there for 12 months too I think.

this is correct. you need to live there and use the car for 12 months (ie. rego).

The rest of the world does. At least those who want it for performance. Don't make me pull out FD2 vs FN2 on 5th Gear. :p
I was at Scotts Honda yesterday looking at the FD Sport. I was looking for one for a DD but if the R is launched here I'll be the first to put money down on one.

Just the same situation in UK, they could import the FD2R while having FN2R selling there at the same time, however, it is not so many people go to buy the FDs. Compare the number of FN2 & FD2 on the street, if the market potential for FD is that huge, i think the owners of the import car companies in UK would have already retired.
And yea, only those who solely want it for performance would buy the car.....
and...the market share for the people who solely want a car for performance is relatively small...:)

Perhaps we should have a poll: Which is better FN2R or FD2R, so that fanbois on here can finally settle this girly debate.

this 4door sedan is 10 times better than the new hatch
its not a type R unless its been built by the japanese

Of course the sedan is better, but I'd rather have the hatch because you don't have to live in New Zealand or Japan(can't decide which is worse) to actually drive one.

JDM EP3R was built in UK so i guess that's not a Type R then...

with all you fanatics about this car - why doesnt someone get a new civic sport or base civic and put the basic running gear onto it ? Sleeper FN2 ?

meh, because it would be the same as getting a gsi or vti-r and putting dc2r running gear into that. better than the original but not as good as the car from which the running gear came.
as an added draw back youre doing it to a brand new car, thus killing the resale. you could get a gsi for 5-6k and convert it all up for say 25ish. but to do the same for a new model civic would probably be the same as buying two brand new civics, hardly worth it when for the total cost you could go buy an evo, or an s2000, or something like that

yeah , obvious reasons.
But it something for these fan boys that will never get the chance to own a real FD2. Exact same theory as all us here doing the JDM front conversion or fake EK9 conversion etc.

well i spose if only the cosmetic bits matter to you then its probably quite a smart idea, and worth doing.
personally i'd only be after the bits you cant see, but everyone's different.

What a joke
the hatch is cant even close enough to compare to this real R
FD win FN by just looking at the spec not to mention FN will be no chance chase up a FD on track

basically yes
there is no such thing called JDM EP3

i hope you are aware that the EP3 sold in Japan is quite different to those sold in Europe.
the term JDM doesn't refer to where its built. it only refers to the spec of a car that was sold in Japan.

You haven't driven any of those cars. Or actually, you don't even own a Honda.

i was watching a dvd on type Rs (it was free from a Type R magazine i bought from Japan). it features a clip of city driving inside a FD2R. from the look of it, it seems the car is hard and the driver and passenger were bouncing inside it. not sure i'd like to live with that on a daily basis....

You are right. WHat i mean is EP is not Japan Made. =)

I drove both cars in different countries. Havent got chance to compare face to face but all round FN2 never get close in term of handling, power and style.
I owned a lot of Hondas before.

The ride of FD2R is not comfort compare to FN but it is still okay for daily use unless you drive like 1 hours to work everyday. Also it is how R blood is

i don't recall all other so called "true" type R were as stiff as the FD tho. it seems that Honda has to go to such extreme just to beat the predecessor on lap times (ie. DC5R) so that FD is preceived to be an improvement.
i guess in a way they don't have much choice as they have to stick to NA and given the minimal power increase + weight increase, their hands are tied.
ps. this is only my personal observation. i'm not bagging the FD with my comments.

at the end of the day, it is wrong to doubt the JDM EP3R as not a true type r just becos it wasn't manufacture in japan.
it has all the ingredients of a proper Type R.

Making lots of friends in your short time here aren't you?
It's OK that you love your FN2. But unfortunately for you, it has nothing on an FD2 performance wise.
And they say us DC5'ers are fanboys.

The only thing that would get me out of one is the FD2R. But even I think FN2 obsesses too much.

There is no point of having topic FD VS FN, it's been proven many times around the world which one is true type R, FN is a nice car but not true TYPE R, it's got different DNA hehe, EP3 for me is true Type R because it's JDM and has all the goodies you expect from R
