Hi guys, i want yall opinion in diz, wat motor should i get? i got quoted 11k for B18CR, labour, new engine(everything) 8), upgrade high compressor piston, heavy duty clutch & suspension conversion..everything done + engineers report? same as for b16a but not as new as itr motor, everything 4 8k... all comments, open hehehe
i'd go the B18C option if it was me with the money to blow...reason?!?dunno...just think 1.8l is more than 1.6l...

For that price I'd say the B18C - the B16 is a rip at that cost. BTW - you forgot brake upgrades in your list - very necessary for an engineer's certificate - and as a safety issue. The only problem I can forsee with the B18 was that I can't think of an ITR owner I've met that doesn't thrash, ooops, I mean utilise the full potential of their motor :)
one more chance

do you mean brand new engine? cos i don't think it'll cost 11K.
8K is very expensive for a B16A engine.....even with all those upgrades.
B18CR will always be a better engine!
SSS sell a DC2R front cut for 9k...so i guess it's about right ?

prices is always an issue, and i say either way, overpaid is the word:o)
last i know, dc2r front cut 2001 b18c7 was sold at abt high 6k and that the engine travelled abt 18KKms
tell me, did good performance quote you those prices?? if so, i say very expensive and not worth it:o) better find someone else.
if money is of concern, i say just get the b16a2 and find someone else to do the installation, because 8g for that is somehow pricy if not a rip:o)
g'luck.

agreed, that the engine would most likely be trash:o) and if unlucky, you might even get an engine where the previous owner know jack shit abt break in or even screw up the tranny while at it:( it always a risk buying used:)
ooops forget to add, civicboy, why don't you just do the swap first and then this abt hig comp pistions , etc...you never know you might like the base setup:o)..moving on only when you reckon its necessary:) that would save you some money as well and it like saying, if its not broken , why fix it? and moving up slow does have its benefits:)

OR you could buy my motor, spend a couple of grand getting it professionally fitted and spank any ITR motor

Whats ur current ride? For 11k u could get one hell of a turbo setup. Much more fun then any b18c would eve provide n/a :P

Oh yer, if i was a purist, that b20vtec would be no.1 on the list in terms of swaps. Id love to see the look on the typr-r drivers faces with that thing screaming. What redline do u run MTR?

I'm upgrading.
Nothing wrong with it but I need more power hehehe
I turn it to 8500
Motor had about 3000 on it when I bought it and probably another thousand now
Just to give you an idea the last b16a half cut i saw went for about 2.5k i'm not sure what they are giving you for 5.5k but it betetr be good as that is enough for a turbo as well =p

yeah, hope so...still gotta see if i can do it - but yeah, i'll post some pix & bout it. :)
Hey man, not knocking the b16a coz i think those engine's are very good. all b series engine's are good. but to have to think about choosing either a b18c-itr motor or a b16a? i mean, do u really have to think about it? if they're the same price then what's there to think about? :)

what i would do in this situation is set myself the budget for the B18C5 but end up getting the B16A and spending the rest of the money left over on a set of camms and higher compression pistons. And if you still got any money left over, then get a microtec or some aftermarket computer and get it tuned. I guarentee you will be chopping most of the cars out on the rd. Even if you just get a b16a with a aftermarket ecu, you will be chopping most cars on the rd..
But since ALLMTR is selling his for that price, hey man as long as there is nothing wrong with the motor, dammm go for that. You may not run as quick as he has but you'll be a high 13 / low 14second car :D
