wait for JasonGilholme to reply or PM him...
he's advised that getting all the sound deadening off as well all the stuff out of the boot can get us under 1000Kg...

^^^lol can't travel without the roof.. random rains in NSW these days...
of all the Jap Targa cars the one-piece aluminium del sol ones are the lightest... it is lighter compared to just 1 glass targa off an NX or 300zx... the MR2 ones aren't as heavy but heavier when combined.

hahaha, NSW weather, try melb weather!!
Still, every KG counts, chassis rigidity i guess would be weakened a little when the roof is off

so sound deadening, everything in boot is pretty much the only things i can remove.. i still want my pw and ac as its gonna be a daily lol, cf hood cf boot? that would definately bring me under the 1000kg mark right?
the cf bonnet is definately lighter than the stock. mine felt almost 4 timeslighter lol. this would be the same with the boot i would suppose. but as everyone said strippng almost all of the interior and while u can keep the roof on you can still take the roof interior trims of. this will take off another 300 grams maybe. you may find that your car will heat up quicker inside though :p but thats why you have 3 windows

Carbon Fiber parts

i calculated the carbon fibre parts from the states including shipping.. works out to be around $2k delivered for:
- Bonnet
- Targa
- Boot
- And the rear bit that holds the plates
- Fuel cap (negligible)
Then have bodykits, fibreglass bumper front and rear and sideskirts... i rex thats easy ~120kg there... $3k later :p
oh and i rex convert the rear window to lexan at least... should be easier as its flat compared to doors

lols god dam 3k for 120kgs.. wish it was as simple as stripping weight off an eg.. that was pretty much free just needed hammer chisel and degreaser! what you guys think of from going from an eg to a crx?

with the CRX there isnt much aftermarket parts for it. hence cos its 2 door. not much u can do to it, but the the EG theres plenty or hardcore parts for it.

do the basics first...
remove spare tyre,jack ect...
if u dont care for music u can remove ur speakers and sound system (if u got)
also light weight rims will make a world of difference, 1kg = 60kg to moving mass of vehicle...
also sound deadening..

The del sol crx is an eg.....
What ever you can buy for an eg you can get for the del sol.
Mines definately under 1000 kgs and thats with PS and heater still in the car. (no ac, no abs, nothing at all in the boot, no passenger seat, no interior etc etc)
When i have the interior back in and the spare tyre (street setup) its closer to 1000 kgs.
Half a tank of petrol always helps as well
