Hi All, Noob here...

I am trying to find out what variants of the D16 came out in Oz and in what model cars they were in.

Sounds simple but I can't find anything.

Honda Australia replied to an email with the following:
"The D16A engine was available locally in the 1.6 Integra"

Does that mean that this is the only model that came out with it in OZ?

Also, what models cam with VTEC and what doesn't? I'd like to boost a D16, but the varying computer types i'm reading about concern me, what models are ODB1 and ODB2?

Possibly the simplest question of all, what is the most common of the different models with the D16, in case I pop one...

ALL help is appreciated, 'and needed' - Thanks in advance.

EGs & EKs also came out in D16.
I beleive 98+ is OBD2 and pre is OBD1

Easiest way to find out is to look at the ECU as there is abit of interchange during '98

what car do you have and what do you want?

there are two types of 'D16', there is the DOHC which came in the CRX and EG civic Si's (and DA integras?)

then there is the SOHC variants which only came in the civic and hrv

;1523518']what car do you have and what do you want?

It is for a project I'm going through. A D16 SOHC into a 1st Gen :honda: Civic.
Has to be SOHC to fit basically (well fit 'easily').

Just need to know the more common of the D16 variants, VTEC and non VTEC.

Info is hard to find, i.e. I asked Honda Australia about the D16Z6 and they knew nothing of it and only gave me the one listed in the first post.

In Short - One day boosted:eek:, VTEC would be nice:thumbsup:, but depending on availability and cost might have to be non VTEC. :thumbdwn:

Thanks again guys and gals...

D16a8 (aka zc) - CRX - DOHC, non vtec, popular to boost
D16y1 (d16y8?) - SOHC, VTEC, bolt on turbo kits available.

thats all i know, they're my options for a 1st gen teg in the d series

websites for reference, mostly american.
