The cheap ones from Supercheap and other places wont last long and arent as bright as the quality ones. Get some Philips CrystalVision $100 or BlueVision $60 bulbs. The BlueVision are not blue at all, they shine bright white with a tinge of blue at certain angles (if you have projectors).

i agree
why would u change ur bulbs
obviusly they still work.
So are ur bulbs less bright compared to other cars?
or just not that bright whilst ur driving.
has it always been like this?
or only happend now.
could just be that the lights are pointed too directly toward the ground and u need to adjust them so they point a bit higher up.

My Civic had dim lights even with good bulbs so sometimes its the headlight glass thats faded, or the wiring has increased its resistance, or a bad contact point such as a bad earth. You can use a Multimeter set on Resistance to check the resistance from the fuse box to the positive bulb contacts, and from the chassis to the negative bulb contact, altho Im not sure what a normal resistance rating would be. The wiring may need replacing if the resistance is too bad. Either way, the more expensive bulbs should be brighter, as long as they are not the blueish type.

I'd check in this order:
1) Headlights foggy/hazed/scratched
2) Ground wiring (wire from negative terminal of battery to chassis, wire from chassis to headlights)
3) Headlight aiming
4) Worn out alternator (headlights flickering, battery not fully charging)

If you decide to adjust the aiming, ensure you do it properly so u dont blind other drivers.

Follow this guide (with pictures):
http://www.automedia.com/Aiming_Headlights/ccr20010801ha/1

If the headlights already appear to be aimed properly, and look dull from all angles, then dont bother adjusting the aiming. Remember that the Drivers headlight is normally aimed lower than the Passengers headlight in a Right Hand drive car to avoid blinding cars opposite you on the other side of the road.

Old halogens tend to be very dim. Easiest way is to borrow one from another car and see.! Plus its free.!

Surely you have a friend or family member who owns a car which has H4 globes. You only need to try one.! :)

like others have said, try getting some decent bulbs like phillips, alot bulb out there these days just look bright but they dont light up the road. grounding wire/kits will make the headlights brighter too...
