Hey all,
First post, first problem =\
I noticed my rear parking sensors that honda fitted weren't working as per usual so I went round the back to have a look
and lo and behold the bumper had been nudged out of position, noticeable coz it doesnt sit flush with the left taillight anymore... I suspect someone tried to park too close to the back of my car and nudged it good
Is there anyway I can check whether the sensors are still good? or anything i can do about it?
Cheers everyone

yes turn your car to stage 2 and put it into reverse (been a while but I think this is how I used to do it) and then go behind the car with a sheet of cardboard and individually test them, beeping should sound per sensor.
If not get a mate and have him chuck it in reverse car on, brakes on and do per above

two person job one to check for reverse sensor sounds in cabin, other person to signal the back sensors to see if they register.
The Honda reverse sensors (if not all) perform a diagnostic when it is activated/when you put the car in reverse. I think it's something like:
1 beep = initialise/activate unit
1 beep + 1 beep = left sensor is faulty
1 beep + 2 beeps = right sensor is faulty
1 beep + 3 beeps = left outer sensor is faulty
1 beep + 4 beeps = right outer sensor is faulty

thats good to know coz i got honda to put my sensors in last yr when i bought my car
the ended up putting in faulty ones from the start so i didnt know what was normal or not.... they kept beeping even if nothing was there..
try the cardboard thing first or even better just get honda to look at them

Cheers QD for that info, ill have a listen to it next time i start the car up
I think its a bit screwed though, the sensors are laggy and delayed now in terms of sensitivity, so i hafta reverse realli slow to be careful.
o the misfortune...and i cant seem to locate the page where the handbook tells of the beep and distance to object
It's not in the Honda manual. With the "authentic" Honda sensor that they install you get an A4 piece of paper, 4 pages. It doesnt look like a genuine product at all when you look at the user guide, but I asked Honda Australia to confirm and to send me their official manual so I could compare mine to theirs and it was the same.

I got that problem occasionally too. All I gotta do is to clean the sensors, make sure the dust or dirts not on those sensors.

I've got two quick questions on the parking sensors:
1. Are they audio-only sensors (ie. they just beep the closer you get) or do you get a visual indicator (eg. on the dash or something) as well?
2. Is there any way to switch them off and switch them on as needed?
Thanks.

I don't think that you can switch it on and off unless you add a switch to break the circuit.
Try the audio control button when youre in reverse...works on some cars.

Yeah my sensors are kicking in @ the very last minute (around 15cms away from the parked car behind me) and basically beeps crazily.
I think I should take it in for an inspection.. but then again i haven't washed my car for years so that could be the issue, dirty sensors?

I think a lot of the problems with the sensors not working properly could be solved simply by washing the car or at least spraying some water at each sensor .

i think my sensors are actually screwed, coz from memory they continually give the beeping measurements right?
dunno if ill fix it, hoping some douche will nudge me again and pay for the bumper =\
i guess some good has come out of it, i gotta reverse heaps slowly and the annoying continual beep isnt there til the sensors start realizing whats behind it.
