1.5L MIVEC engine :p
i might take one of these for a drive, are they out already, ill just take my gfs car and say im looking at getting something new. But i believe they only come out in auto
too bad it doesnt have 7spd mode like the jazz.. i wonder how many kw does it have..
not a big fan of the rear..but front looks pretty hot .. i still would choose the jazz over it...since we get new facelift anyways...
at a glance, one could mistake that as a Jazz, but not my cup of tea tho. :)
They are cvt autos and on paper are just under the Jazz on power output. On the road they are no where close. They aren't to bad BUT not even in the same league as a Jazz in build quality, ride comfort, performance, and handling.
P.S. I work at a Honda dealer and Mitsubishi got real busy so I got relocated for 2 weeks. So I have road tested both cars with under 10km on the clock.
just to assist some peeps :)

Yeh they seem ok,
I just hate the way all the new econ cars are going, the dome shape with the tiny bloody engine bays!
Whats with the lack of sedans, its like theyre all mini sport hatches, I really do prefer the mid 90 model cars
hmm...
this is not much of a competitor to the Honda Jazz
the Citroen C2 VTR is more of a competitor than this Colt

went to test drive one today
only comes in auto
the shifter is on the steering coloum....just like the old Tarago!!
even more resembles a "van"
seats are "bucketed" but doesn't do anything unless you're massively overweight...
the breaks, well....it's a mitsubishi...compared to the Echo and Jazz....this thing feels like it's going to fall apart under brakes....
the power output isn't too bad actually...but braking around corners and power out...automatic Jazz still feels better...

Nothing compared to Jazz.. its mitsubishi engine.... VTEC Kicks ass! dun mind getting one though
colt? pfft!
when they say colt i always think of the rusty POS bright yellow smoke crap heap you see in high school car parts with a pokemon hanging from the rear view mirror with a "the beast" sticker on the back :thumbdwn:
colt sucks balls, jazz all the way mofos!!
how abt the interior?
the finish of the interior is quite nice...
but in terms of styling...it's bland...just like everyother Mitsubishi

Amen to that! I think the current Swift (latest one) has 74 kw and weights about the same as Jazz, therefore only loss out abit! Therefore when GTI comes out, should own Jazz for sure! <--in terms of power only though. I think Jazz still have the best interior space!

the colt has NOTHING on the jazz.... the interior of the colt is as boring as a camry, the back end is goofy, and it looks top heavy. Also the auto only idea is crap.
The swift on the other hand, is funky, fun, spacious with a nice interior, and jam packed FULL of extras. This this will be the biggest selling small car by far in a few months, because , for what you get, ITS CHEAP!!!!

It's like saying an M3 will have a better quality interior than the base model 320Ci coupe at almost half the price...It won't happen because the same parts are used.

2005 Ford Fiesta ST
The new Fiesta ST heralds the return of an exciting performance car to Ford's European small car range, promising a new direction for the Fiesta in economy, performance, and handling. Based on the original fast 1981 XR2 Fiesta, and developed by Ford's TeamRS alongside the Junior World Rallye car we saw at the 2003 Tokyo Motor Show, the ST is powered by a 147-hp 2.0-liter Duratec ST engine and matched to a chassis tuned to make enthusiastic drivers smile. From its free-breathing grill and lower bumper design, to its lowered stance and 11-spoke alloy wheels wrapped in low-profile high-performance tires, the three-door RS visually demonstrates its performance credentials. Beyond promising a 2-second improvement on the 60-mph time held by the previous 1.6-liter/98-hp model, Ford is withholding any additional technical details until closer to its European release at the end of 2004.

That Ford looks terrible and I don't think I could ever own another Australian car, Japanese is the way to go. I actually don't mind the Colt but I think it is a big mistake not offering a manual option. There aren't too many modified Colt's in Japan but you can get a Ralliart version which makes over 100ps and I think it has a turbo Mivec engine in it. These two Colt's look cool I think.

Was reading the Herald Sun this morning and came across this one.. Damn... 1.5 Turbo... kick your friggin Jazz's arse.. Come on Honda.. Bring the Jazz TypeR in.
A bit costly though.. About $40K if it happen to be here 2006... Not confirmed yet by DaimlerChrysler.
At this year's Geneva Motor Show (01 – 13 March 2005) smart will be premiering the smart forfour BRABUS that will be available in Europe from May of this year. The new four-seater from smart conveys pure power and luxury following the motto "spice up your life".
130 kW and a kerb weight of 1,090 kilograms result in a weight/power ratio of 8.4 kg per kW or just under 6.2 kg per bhp - figures that would do justice to many sports cars. A maximum speed of 221 km/h, acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and even more driving pleasure mark the smart forfour BRABUS as a premium vehicle for connoisseurs and enthusiasts – without neglecting the virtues of functionality, innovation and safety that characterise all models. The smart forfour BRABUS is sure to get everyone's pulse racing with the driving feel of a powerful sports car – and a level of luxury that is extremely unusual in this segment.
Unobtrusive modifications to the exterior and the interior underline the high performance character of the smart forfour BRABUS. In addition to 17inch alloy wheels and a lowered suspension these include a larger front spoiler, a chrome-plated double-pipe exhaust, a rear diffuser and stylish side skirts.
Two diamond mesh inserts in the radiator grille are also exclusive to the smart forfour BRABUS. This model also features a roof spoiler that reduces lift on the rear axle by 50 kilograms at top speed and thus has a further stabilising effect.
BRABUS and smart are proud of the newest addition to the family and the high-end experience offered by the four-seater smart forfour. The smart forfour BRABUS has the same sassy, young design that characterises all smart forfour models and the same practical advantages such as the sliding rear seats – but offers performance, luxury and especially driving pleasure that are quite outstanding for its class.

Swatch the watchmaker was the one who invented smart vehicle. Swatch was laughed at by many car manufacturers when it created the vehicle. The concept is mini small size vehicle for parking and driving easiness.... it was a success and was bought by another car manufacturer (cant remember, might be daimler then)....

If $30K - $35K or something I might think about it. $40K is over price.. I can probably get a Golf GTi for $40K ???

Nissan Pulsar SSS (http://forums.freshalloy.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Board=UBB1&Number=67939911)
It might come out in a SR20DET or maybe the newer VR20DET. :)

Source from autoweb (http://autoweb.drive.com.au/cms/A_104646/newsarticle.html), and I quote :
The award-winning Mazda2 now features a dynamic new look and host of significant mechanical upgrades that boost performance and cut exhaust emissions.
Mazda2 becomes the only volume-selling car in its class offering Activematic automatic transmission, which incorporates a manual gear selection mode, across the range.
All Mazda2 models are powered by an 82 kilowatt, 1.5-litre engine and the range remains priced from $15,990 with air conditioning.
Activematic-equipped models deliver improved economy with average fuel consumption falling from 7.2 to 7.0L/100km under Government 81/01 testing.
......Mechanically, engine modifications that include revised exhaust gas timing and the adoption of an electronic throttle, help boost torque delivery between 1500rpm and 3000rpm and improve linear acceleration feel.
The 1.5-litre Sequential Valve Timing (SV-T) engine, which develops a strong 82 kilowatts of power and 141Nm of torque, now complies with the strict Euro Step III emission regulations. Engine weight has been trimmed by 2.2 kilograms.
Other mechanical upgrades include the addition of electric power steering, a system that is based on the unit found in the company’s RX-8 flagship.
The electric assistance ensures light steering at low speed, while delivering a heavier, more controlled feel from the rack and pinion unit at medium to high speed. bla bla bla.. read more about it here.. http://autoweb.drive.com.au/cms/A_104646/newsarticle.html
